Conspire - Children's Ministry Conference Print Email
Saturday, 13 September 2008

The Willow Creek Association puts on a number of great events every year and their Children's Ministry Conference is one of them.  Every couple of years we send a team of volunteers and staff from our church to this conference to be inspired and to bring home some fresh new ideas.  Here is what they are saying about the next conference in March of 2009...

Effectively reaching out to the kids in your ministry means investing in them right now, while caring about the students and adults they will become. Research shows that 60% of "churched" kids are walking away from their faith some time in their twenties. What can we do today to impact children and empower parents in a way that will stay with them as they mature?

Join us March 18-20, 2009 as together we imagine the future for our children. It’s going to take all of us – all of our experiences, education, convictions, gifts and most importantly our passion to imagine new ways of reaching children for Jesus Christ.

The average American kid watches 5 hours of media per day! That amazes me. We limit the amount of TV our kids watch daily and I remember having similar limitations while I was growing up. The interesting part about all this is that while kids are watching more and more TV or media, less and less of it is being produced by Christians. The Disney Channel and Nickelodeon connect with many kids on a daily basis, while we only get to teach large groups of kids Christian values at church for one hour per week.

Phil Vischer, the guy who started Veggie Tales, is once again trying something new and I can't wait to see what he does next. Click on the link and watch the video to find out what Phil is up to! If you have kids you have got to see this! Click here to learn about Jelly Telly.
