Mobile Reminder Tool Print Email
Thursday, 11 September 2008

I dont know if you are like me but when I am on the go and someone tells me something important, or gives me something to do I have got to get it on a list.  Often I wish that I could email myself a reminder.  Now you can do that simply by calling a toll free number and using a free web service called Jott!  Go to www.jott.com and set up a free account and then off you go!  Here is how they put it on their website:

Jott makes sure you stay on top of everything. With a simple phone call to 866-JOTT-123, you can capture notes, set reminders and calendar appointments, stay in touch with friends and family, and interact with your favorite web sites and services...all with your voice!

I have used Jott and it works great.  I regulary will call when I am busy and it turns my voice into an email that I read later in my inbox.

Awesome!

Challenges for the Church in the Digital World Print Email
Tuesday, 09 September 2008

Cynthia Ware recently posted on 10 challenges that the church has to confront head on to impact our world when it comes to technology and this digital generation.  Here are her observations:

  1. Accept the Virtual World’s significance (myspace, facebook, etc.)
  2. View online expressions of Christianity as valuable extensions of real world faith
  3. Embrace the opportunity for Church without borders (time, geography, etc.)
  4. Welcome the presentation of God’s Word in the vernacular of current culture
  5. Respond to the globalization of the planet with hope not cynicism
  6. Develop and maintain an online presence purposefully populating cyberspace
  7. Establish virtual outposts for evangelizing, preaching, equipping & training
  8. Create interactive portals for experiencing Church (streaming media)
  9. Practice spiritual disciplines in the global online conversation
  10. Encourage strategic investment in the iGeneration

When I Grow Up

Check out this video from Granger Community Church called "When I Grow Up." It's a powerful reminder that we shouldn't settle for less, but strive to be a part of something God sized.

Internet Campus

For the last four months, Carmi and I have been watching worship experiences via LifeChurch.tv's Internet Campus. We really look forward to it each weekend. Here's what we like about it (no particular order).

• We run the video feed from our laptop through the television and watch it full screen. The quality is great!
• We love LifeChurch.tv's style and the message seems to cut through the clutter.
• I can relax on the couch beside my beautiful wife, son and our two dogs.
• Because we're relaxed on the couch, we tend to discuss the message afterwards. I can think of at least one major goal that came out of these discussions.
• In the last month, there have been two times we couldn't make it our church. We watched in our hospital room after Parker was born and another time because of bad weather. LifeChurch.tv's experience was our only service on those two weekends.
• We appreciate Craig's straightforward approach.
• It's relevant to our lives.
• We like the effective, techy, casual atmosphere. No christianese or churchese.
• No watered down message here. It's from the Bible and there's always an opportunity to become a Christ follower at the end.
• We filled two LifePacks that were sent to New Orleans. LifeChurch.tv paid for the postage.
• It seems like there's always something unusual happening (like the rumored ghost sightings).

If you haven't tried the Internet Campus yet, you're missing out. Seacoast Church recently rolled out its own Internet Campus. I haven't tried it yet, but Jim tells me it's great.
